The report
In 1976, two young girls reported seeing a large, half-human, half-owl creature with glowing red eyes near Mawnan Church. Further sightings continued into the 1990s. Though sometimes likened to the American Mothman, the Owlman remains a peculiarly Cornish cryptid, whispered about in regional folklore. Its connection to the ancient churchyard has led some to suggest it is a spirit rather than a biological creature.
