The report

On 21 June 1947 Harold Dahl, who recovered floating logs in Puget Sound, said that six large, doughnut-shaped objects appeared above his boat off Maury Island, Washington. One reportedly released a lightweight metallic substance that he said injured his son and killed a dog. Dahl also said that a man in a dark suit later warned him not to discuss the matter. Kenneth Arnold was drawn into the investigation, and two Air Force officers who had gathered samples died in an aircraft crash in August. The FBI and Army investigators judged the claims false, and the case is widely regarded as a hoax, including by many UFO enthusiasts.
