The report
The Gwyllgi (meaning 'twilight dog') is a fearsome black dog from Welsh folklore, reported in parts of north-east Wales and the border country. Accounts describe a large, fiery-eyed canine that appears at night, sometimes accompanied by a foul smell or spectral lights. As with other black-dog legends, it is often interpreted as a harbinger of death or a guardian of the otherworld.
