The report
In 1661, John Mompesson of Tedworth reported repeated disturbances in his house after seizing a drum from a beggar. For months, witnesses heard ghostly drumming, scratching, and banging. The 'Drummer of Tedworth' became one of the earliest documented English poltergeist cases, widely reported in pamphlets of the time.
