The report
Active from the 1830s to 1900s, Spring-heeled Jack was reported across London and southern England as a man-like entity with extraordinary leaping ability, metallic claws, and eyes like 'blue balls of fire'. Witnesses described him spitting blue flames or lunging at women; newspapers sensationalised accounts. While explanations range from pranksters to social panic, the figure became embedded in Victorian popular culture and penny dreadfuls.
