The report
In Sussex folklore a 'knucker' is a kind of water dragon said to live in deep pools called knuckerholes. The Lyminster knucker, connected to tales of a hero named Jim Puttock who slew the beast, is one of the better-known local variants. Accounts describe large serpentine creatures emerging from ponds to attack livestock or terrorise villagers; the term appears regularly in medieval place-names and local legends.
